By assiduous and wise practice of the Dhamma, one may come to realize the end of self-created suffering. The mind gets liberated from its repetitive cyclic affliction caused by its own toxins of greed, hatred, and delusion.
But the end of suffering is not the end of sin. For sin remains hidden in the depths of the spirit or consciousness, corrupting consciousness to the core and all-pervasively. The sin of resistance to God can never be destroyed by anything stemming from one’s own corrupted spirit or consciousness. The “rubber ball” of spirit or consciousness may regain its original roundness but remains corrupted in its very fabric, to its very essence—notwithstanding its empty, luminous, blissful, transparent, stainless, unborn, undying, and knowing nature.
Only God, who stands outside one’s corruption of consciousness, can break in and break through to catalyse a direct immediate overhaul of the rubber ball of consciousness. Once regenerated into a new and better (kainos) fabric of divine purity, only then is sin nullified in the arising of supernatural faith that is able to love God and open unreservedly to Him. Only then is the rubber ball of consciousness purified of primordial sin and be fit for purpose—to truly love God and love all creation in the love of Christ. All this happens by grace alone.
Don’t take this on blind belief. Explore and experiment, inquire and probe, and deeply investigate your own experience to see the reality of the way things are for yourself. Only then can you insightfully know the truth beyond words—in the revelational breakthrough of salvific knowledge in Christ alone. By grace alone. Through faith alone. For the glory of God alone. Amen.
